Owners, Deven & Pam McGhee opened their business doors November 1st, 2007. This duo brings enthusiasm, creativity, and integrity to this venture. They are members of the Beatrice Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Florists Society. Deven and Pam feel very blessed to have this opportunity to offer Beatrice residents and surrounding communities quality, unique products and services at affordable prices. Nature’s beauty has been an inspiration, as well as Pam’s love for decorating!
Deven and Pam have two daughters, Megan and April. Deven grew up on a farm in Northeastern Nebraska. Pam is a homegrown Beatrice girl. (Bernhardt - - that’s where the spelling for Khardt comes from.) They met at UNL, lived in central Nebraska for a short time, and then planted themselves in Beatrice to raise their family. Deven is the chief engineer at Encore Mfg. and Pam is a second grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary of Beatrice Public Schools. At the present time, Blossom Khardt has two full-time employees. Each member of the Blossom Khardt team brings unique skills and expertise that compliment each other and the business.
Althea has worked in the floral industry for over 25 years having owned and operated her own floral shop for 9 years before moving to Beatrice. She is a certified Nebraska Master Florist and having successfully competed in numerous floral competitions, was inducted into the Nebraska Academy of Floral Designers. Althea has served on the NE Florist Society Board of Directors and currently serves as a Committee Chairman for the Heartland Floral Convention. She continues to attend seminars and continuing educational classes to keep current with the ever changing floral industry.
Her husband, Arvid, is a funeral director for Fox Funeral Home in Beatrice. Their son, Aron Wiest and his wife, Wendy, and their grandchildren, Jacob & Aubrey, live in Lincoln, NE.. Daughter, Abby, and husband, Cameron Houseman, live in Overland Park, KS.
Althea is available to clubs and groups for informative talks such as plant care and handling.
Megan is a 2006 UNL graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Textiles and Apparel Design. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in the same field with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. Megan brings to the Blossom Khardt many years of design experience along with a previous knowledge of the retail business. She is looking forward to graduating this year, as well as planning her August wedding.
